On Friday, April 26, 2014, an avalanche on Mount Everest killed at least 13 Sherpa guides. NASA's Terra spacecraft looked toward the northeast, with Mount Everest (center), and Lhotse, the fourth-highest mountain on Earth, on the skyline to right center.
