NASA's Curiosity rover and its powered descent vehicle pose for photographs prior to being integrated for launch at JPL's Spacecraft Assembly Facility. Curiosity, the largest and most robust planetary rover ever built, will be able to navigate over obstacles 25 inches (65 centimeters) in height while exploring Gale Crater on Mars.
NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, a division of the California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, Calif., manages the Mars Science Laboratory Project for the NASA Science Mission Directorate, Washington.
