Larger AVI file (406k)This movie clip (of which the release image is a still frame), created from images taken by NASA's Cassini spacecraft, shows white oval storms in Jupiter's southern hemisphere that rotate counterclockwise, similar to the larger Great Red Spot. These storms are very stable and persist for decades.
Cassini is a cooperative mission of NASA, the European Space Agency and the Italian Space Agency. JPL, a division of the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, manages Cassini for NASA's Office of Space Science, Washington, D.C.
