RoboSimian, a limbed robot developed by engineers at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California, competed in the DARPA Robotics Challenge Trials in Florida in December 2013. Brett Kennedy, supervisor of JPL's Robotic Vehicles and Manipulators Group, and Max Bajracharya, senior member of JPL's Mobility and Manipulation Group, pose with the robot.

The RoboSimian team is led by JPL. Stanford University, Palo Alto, Calif., collaborated on the development of the robot's unique hands.
